Portraits
I love to paint people: portraits giving a glimpse into a subject’s personality or interests; portraits designed to evoke an emotion or suggest a story; and self-portraits that are part of my own introspection. Oil paint was my preferred medium until a few years ago when I joined a pastel portrait class taught by Judy King. Pastels grabbed me with their energy and immediacy. I feel in love with the chunky sticks of unctuous, saturated pigment that allow me to loosen up and play with line and color.
